George Long

George Henry Long, 93, passed away on September 23, 2022 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines. He was born in Akron, Ohio on January 31, 1929, son of Henry and Zeta (Pennington) Long.

George was a truck driver with Universal Trucking and retired from Massey Ferguson in 1981. He was a World War II Veteran in the US Navy.

George is survived by his loving wife, Delores; daughter Rhonda (Curtis) Cass; son George D. (Meta) Long; brother Robert Fullerton; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Ruth and Rhea and brother Edward.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St S.W., Altoona, Iowa on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel, Iowa at 2:00 p.m.
