Colleen D. Ditolla
September 22, 2022
Colleen D. Ditolla passed away unexpectantly after a short battle with heart failure on Thursday, September 22, 2022, while surrounded by loved ones. Colleen was born on July 20, 1946 in Vinton, Iowa. From the time of her birth, until the time she went to the Lord, Colleen was full of energy and loved to be in the presence of friends and family. She was a selfless, caring, and compassionate spouse, mother, and grandmother. In her spare time, she loved to quilt, sew, crotchet, and craft. She also loved to travel and spend time with her grandkids.
Colleen dedicated her life to her children and instilled good values in them. She came from the prominent Hartz family in Newhall, Iowa. Her father, George, engrained many traits that included a strong work ethic, resilience, and that family is always first. Colleen also acquired the infamous Hartz stubbornness. She learned from Gladyce, her stepmother, the desire to be an amazing wife and caregiver to her children.
Colleen was proceeded in death by mother, Janette Hartz, who died in a car accident in 1959; her stepmother, Gladyce and her father, George Hartz; and her ex-husband Henry Ditolla who passed in 2019.
She is survived by her brothers, Jerry (Steph) Hartz and Doug (Mel) Hartz; her sister, Judy Deklotz; daughter, Angela (Eric) Berg; son, Nick (Debbie) Ditolla and their children, Peyton (AJ) Neubaum and Quinn Ditolla.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Waukee Christian Church with visitation one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in honor of Colleen Ditolla to the EveryStep Kavanagh Hospice House, 900 56th Street in Des Moines, Iowa 50312. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
