Marilyn Cater

Marilyn Kay Cater, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Marilyn was born May 13, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa to George and Emily (Newell) Cater. She was a school teacher in the Des Moines Public School District for many years. Marilyn loved to travel, and especially enjoyed wintering in Texas. She was a longtime member of Soteria Des Moines Church. She loved the Lord and had such a strong faith. She looked forward to the day when she would meet Him face to face.

She is survived by her nieces, Teri (Jack) Kuhns, Lori Nyberg, and Taylor (Todd Sucherman) Mills and their families; and her special friend of 70 years, Jan McLucas and her family.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, George and Emily Cater; her brother, David Cater; as well as her nephew-in-law, David Nyberg.

Services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Soteria Des Moines Church, 3250 SE Soteria Avenue, West Des Moines. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. There will be a reception at the church after the graveside service concludes.
