Don Morris

Don Morris, 78, passed away at home surrounded by his family on September 18, 2022. He was born in Allerton, Iowa, on June 6, 1944, to George and Dorsey Morris.

Don was the rock of the family. He was an amazing husband, dad, and grandfather.
Don was a Godly man and a strong prayer warrior. He used his booming singing voice to sing praise – the song how Great Thou Art is still ringing in the rafters. Don served in his church as a spiritual leader, an elder, a deacon, a Sunday school teacher and in any other capacity he was needed. Don extended his love of people and God beyond the local congregation with several missions trips to Costa Rica, El Salvador and most recently to Minnesota.

Don loved baseball and softball. He coached his kids and grandkids at baseball and he played softball in adult leagues into his late 50s. No one ever left his house hungry, and everyone heard him say "I love you" and "be careful" as they left. Don had the most genuine and kind soul.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Cindy; children, LeAnne Krell, Steven (Kimberly) Morris, Dianne (Kenneth III) Petersen, Michael Morris, Robert Morris, and Danielle Morris; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Joanne Robbins, Jerold (Cindy) Morris, and Harold (Sandy) Morris; as well as many dear nieces and nephews, other loving family and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorsey; twin brother, Dean Morris, and brother, Kenny Morris.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to be used to extend Don's love to others.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022, at Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 314 East Army Post Road in Des Moines. Visitation will occur one hour prior to the service.
