Harold E. Tysdal

Harold E. Tysdal, devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away on September 12, 2022 at the Granger Care Facility after a lengthy illness. Harold was born on January 27, 1933 to Gene and Rosie Tysdal at Stanhope, Iowa. He graduated from Stanhope High School in 1950. Harold proudly served his country in Korea. He attended AIB College in Des Moines.
On July 29, 1956 Harold married the love of his life, Faye Anderson at Boone. They moved to Des Moines to start their lives together. They were blessed with three sons and one daughter.
Harold was a quiet, patient, devoted and selfless hard working family man. He was a gifted woodworker and painter. He was with SuperValue Food Stores for 38 years. After retiring in 1997 he worked part-time for Hyperion Golf and then at Adessa Auto Auction. He loved to travel, gardening, golf, and spend time with family and friends. He walked hand in hand with Faye for over 66 years.
Harold was preceded in death by his father, Gene Tysdal; mother, Rosie Tysdal; sister, Rozella; son, Kevin Tysdal.
He is survived by his wife, Faye of Johnston; son, Michael (Carolyn) of Norwalk, son, Randy (Karen) of Lamoni; daughter, Kari Nilles (Paul) of Waukee; daughter-in-law, Leann of Texas; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy (Lynn) Law of Arkansas.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Wounded Warriors, in loving memory of Harold.

Uncle Harold, was such a kind and gentle soul. I was so blessed to be his niece. He was a devoted Christian man who lived his life by example. God bless you uncle Harold.
