Kevin Bodtke
September 04, 2022
Kevin Dean Bodtke, 51, of Des Moines, Iowa, went home to be with the Lord on September 4, 2022. Kevin was born in Osage, Iowa. After graduating from high school, he attended the Iowa Department of the Blind in Des Moines, Iowa. He then went on to get his Criminal Justice degree from Des Moines Area Community College. After working in this field for a time, he decided to enter the Business Enterprise Program through the Iowa Department of the Blind and became the owner of his business, Newmark Vending, for the past 26 years.
Kevin’s passion for his family, friends, music, and furthering opportunities for the blind, was only matched by his kind spirit and sense of humor that drew people to him.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Kori, three sons, Ethan, Seth, and Myles, his parents, Paul and Brenda, his sister, Julie (John) Morische, his brother, Barry (Teri), along with many more family, friends, and loved ones.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at Embassy Suites, 101 E. Locust Street, Des Moines, on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 1 pm. We invite you to celebrate Kevin’s memory, catch up with old friends, and share your favorite stories.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Dear Kori and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Kevin was a great guy. He and Doug had a lot of fun back in the days of the School for the Blind. It has been over 12 years since Doug has been gone. I just happened upon your names in my address book today and was looking to see if you still lived in Des Moines and found this site. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Love, Dawn Cook

Sorry to hear of the loss for the Bodtke family. Kevin was a great friend to have growing up. Always a smile and a laugh. ( And the best music selection in Osage! )
