Steven J. Bell, Jr.
August 31, 2022
Steven J. Bell Jr., 54, passed away on August 31, 2022, surrounded by his family. Steve was born January 23, 1968, in Des Moines, Iowa to Steven and Donna Bell. Steve attended East High School and was employed by 3E Electrical Engineering for 27 years where he was a trusted customer favorite. Steve and his wife, the love of his life, Denise Bell recently celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary.
Steve loved his family immensely and was happiest when spending time with them enjoying pool days, game nights, Canada fishing trips, the Iowa State Fair, holidays, BBQs, and cheering on the Hawkeyes.
Steve was loyal, and genuine with a quick wit, infectious belly laugh, and unforgettable smile. Steve was extremely inquisitive and loved to explore and learn. He possessed a wealth of obscure knowledge and was a great conversationalist.
A family favorite was listening to Steve and his brother Scott reminisce about their childhood, specifically “fire station day” which commenced when Steve Sr. was working at the station. Stevie, Scotty, and the E. 26th Street Gang (you know who you are!) were proficient in creating mischief and wreaking havoc in the neighborhood.
Those left to cherish Steve’s memory include his father Steven Bell, mother-in-law Donna Wagner, wife Denise Bell, children Nicholas Bell, Jason (Tara) Hofbauer, and Jenna (Chuck) Harris, grandchildren Alexandra Hofbauer, Kelsey Stewart, and Della Bell, brother Scott (Ginny) Bell, many nieces and nephews and a host of loving family and friends.
Steve was reunited in Heaven with his mother Donna Bell, and sister Sheri Bell.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2022 at Grimes United Methodist Church, 801 NW 1st Street, Grimes with internment at Sunnyhill Cemetery. Luncheon following burial at the Grimes United Methodist Church.

Psalm 91:14-16
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

Denise,
Our hearts are heavy with the loss but especially for you and the kids/grandkids left behind. I was honored to present Steve with his 25 year watch at 3E and worked directly with him in the early 2000's. He cared about his customers and had a wealth of knowledge. May the hope of our faith's promise provide comfort when it is needed most.

I am saddened by the loss of Steve. Steve and I started our journey at 3E on the exact same day. We shared a lot of good times and much laughter. He was a good man. Denise, my prayers are with you and your family at this time, so sorry for the loss and the pain you all are going through. We are thinking of you in this difficult time.
