Jeffrey Wayne Mullin of Des Moines, Iowa passed away peacefully on September 1, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center.
Jeff was born in Des Moines, IA to Wayne and Mary Anne (Sample) Mullin on October 16, 1957. He graduated from East High School in 1976. Earned his BA in 2007 and Master's in Education from Grand View University.
Jeff served in the United States Navy for six years in Jacksonville, Florida. He served full-time in the Iowa Air National Guard and retired as Master Sergeant after 18 years of service in 2002. Jeff was the recipient of numerous awards including the John Levitow Award, the highest honor presented to a graduate of Air Force Enlisted Professional Military Education.
After the military, Jeff was a 9th-grade World History teacher at Lincoln RAILS Academy and retired in 2018 from East High School.
Jeff made a friend everywhere he went. From watching live music to karaoke to sharing stories at his favorite East side bars, Jeff was the life of the party. He enjoyed NASCAR, and Chicago Cubs baseball, playing in his band, and playing the harmonica or bass. But his greatest joy was spending time with family and making his grandbabies giggle.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of life is to be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, 1100 Shriners Parkway, Altoona, Iowa, 50009.
