William Light

William (Bill) Wesley Light of Des Moines, IA passed from this life on Thursday, August 25, 2022.

Bill was born July 26, 1945 to Ruth Roush in Stockton, CA. He worked at Aramark Services for 30 years, retiring in 2008. Bill was an avid newspaper reader and enjoyed discussing politics and local news events with co-workers. He also liked watching football, baseball and Olympic gymnastics. Bill loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a huge heart and was always willing to help anyone in need.

Bill is survived by his sister Rose Light Dunn (Tom), a brother, niece Kathy Sotter (Tom), nephew Brian Philips (Adelaida), niece Cathy Winningham (John), niece Sandra Wells (Clay), niece Tammy Dunn, niece Cindy Beemer (Rick), nephew Shawn Roush (Tina), and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Roush, maternal grandmother Blanche Moore, brother Roger Roush, sister Mary Philips, brother Robert Light and nephew Kevin Philips.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Jordan Cemetery in West Des Moines, IA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, Inc.

Oh Bill. My other hallway monitor. Not a day went by that I didn't think about you when I retired. We had many talks and memories of your mom Ruth and you would come every day with a news paper and treats. God bless you Bill. Your always in my heart. Condolences to the family.
