Cindy (Ting) Luu, age 63, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Cindy was born May 12, 1959 in Na Hai Dieu Vientiane, Laos to Louane and Chap (Bacthi) Baccam. She was a Des Moines Technical High School graduate.

She married David Tay Luu in 1978 and moved to Texas in 1979. In 1987 they moved back to Des Moines, IA to start their family business, Ting’s Supermarket. In 1996 the supermarket was expanded and is now known as Double Dragon. The Asian community has come to respect and appreciate her. The fact that she spoke multiple languages made it easier for her to communicate with everyone. Even though the business consumed most of her time, she still managed to support her family and contribute to the community. Cindy always thought of others before herself. Her loss will be deeply felt by all that knew and loved her.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband David Tay Luu; daughter, Arina Luu; sons, Sam (Diem Chau) Luu and Anthony (Truc Ngo) Luu; grandson Alexander An Luu; brothers, Khamphone Baccam, Khampheuy (Bounsoung) Baccam, ViengThong (Loi) Baccam, Khamphoui (Debbie) Baccam, Khamphai Baccam and Khamphuy (Lavanh) Baccam as well as many nieces and nephews.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents Louane and Chap Baccam.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2022. Funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2022.
