John D. Currie

John D. Currie, 57, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.

John was born August 13, 1965, in Roanoke, Virginia to Thomas and Carolyn (McKenzie) Currie. He grew up in Chatham, VA, lived in many places like Dallas, TX and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and was a resident of the Des Moines area for the past fifteen years. John worked for the advertising firms of Walsh Branding, Integer Group, Group 360, and Tracy Locke Advertising Agency. After his advertising career, John worked for FedEx in their storefront in Clive, Iowa, and most recently for AAA as a member representative. John enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair, farmers’ markets, and long drives in the Iowa farm country.

He is survived by his father Thomas Currie, sister Nancy Currie, brother Neil Currie, and a nephew. He is also survived by his great friend, Amy Cee of Des Moines, IA. John was preceded in death by his mother Carolyn Currie.

Cremation will occur and burial will take place at Antioch Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Red Springs, North Carolina at a date to be announced.

Very sorry to hear the news of John passing. I worked with him at Integer and always enjoyed his sense of humor!
