David Allen Lansing

David Allen Lansing, 80, died August 19, 2022. Services will be held Friday, August 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Westview Church, 1155 SE Boone Dr. in Waukee, IA.
Dave was born March 8, 1942 in Rolfe, IA. He graduated from Indianola High School, Simpson College and later received his Master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State. Dave coached high school boys’ basketball for 33 years, was a two-time state golf champion coach, and in retirement was a Hall of Fame softball umpire.
Dave enjoyed playing golf and traveling to watch his kid’s and grandkid’s ballgames. He was a member of the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association, and in the 1999 was inducted into the Iowa Boys Basketball Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Diane Lansing; children, Angela Lansing of West Des Moines, Greg (Kristi) Lansing of Scottsdale, AZ, and Steve Lansing of Minneapolis, MN; and grandchildren, Jordan, Kennedy, Addison and Jalen.

I am so sorry for your loss. My deep condolences to the entire Lansing family. Dave was always good to me and I looked up to him as a mentor and friend. Rest In Peace.

Greg- So very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. What a wonderful guy and true gentlemen. Any conversation I had with him centered on family and how proud he was of his. Prayers and condolences to the entire family.

Very sadden to learn of Dave's passing. I so much enjoyed getting to know him and visit with him all these years. When he worked at Jester Park he would give me a large bag of found balls because he knew I would lose many. Just a great guy and my sincere condolences to his family

So sorry to hear of the passing of Dave Lansing. Coached against his Harlan team of 1983 and 1984 when I was at Sioux City North. His teams were always well prepared. Dave was a good friend and I always enjoyed talking basketball with Dave over the years at the state tournaments. He will be greatly missed by all that came in contact with him over the years. Stay strong - the family of Dave Lansing. RIP COACH

Sorry to hear this sad news. I have known Dave since the 60s. We competed in college and town team baseball back then. Later we competed as basketball coaches in the Hawkeye Ten. He was always a 1st class person and true friend. I will miss seeing him at athletic events in the Des Moines area.

Susie and I send our condolences to the Lansing family. Dave was great to work with on KILJ radio and we had such a good time at state tournaments watching and discussing games and players. He was created to be a coach all his teams were always prepared to the max. RIP coach.

We are deeply sorry for your loss. We did not know Dave but have known Greg a number of years. A fathers legacy is his children, and by that account, Dave was a great man.

So sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of being neighbors. It was great fun to celebrate at my wedding with all of you. Dale and I really enjoyed sitting by Dave in the stands at the Valley football games when Jordan was in school. Dave always made me feel special. May you be blessed with memories of love during this sad time.

My condolences to Diane, Angela, Greg, and Steve. Coach Lansing was instrumental in my development as a basketball player and person. Dave emphasized the fundamentals, playing hard, and unselfish play. The Harlan basketball program achieved great success under Dave's direction. RIP Coach. You will be missed.

Sorry to hear of this sad news. As a fellow Athletic Director in the H10 Conference, Dave was a good family man and a dedicated professional who had the best interest of his school and students at all times. Dave always A life well lived!!
