Iris Reyna Evans

Iris Reyna (Hodum) Evans, age 61, passed away on August 13, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born in Memphis, TN on November 26, 1960, to William and Lurlie (Summers) Hodum.

Reyna worked as a nurse, most recently for EveryStep Hospice. She enjoyed cooking, the State Fair, concerts, playing the piano and listening to the Sweet Adelines. She never met a stranger and made friends anywhere she went. Reyna was also a very talented seamstress and quilter. Her quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include husband, Wade Evans; siblings, Gale Herrera, Bobby Hodum, and Michael Hodum; father-in-law, Neal Evans; step-mother, Peggy Hodum, and her mother, Lurlie Colby.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Karen Evans; father, William Lacy Hodum, and step-father, Reginald Colby.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Reyna.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Avenue S., with a graveside service to begin at 1:15 p.m. at Mitchellville Cemetery.

We will miss your visits. I will miss exchanging recipes and sending you pictures of what I made. We both loved baking desserts. We will think of you everytime we go to the Golden Corral and will keep your little table we got just for your drinks. Ill keep the dress you made Paige and Hillary has her monopoly shoes. You were the favorite Aunt that sent crowns and high heeled shoes to your "curly sue". Tim cherishes tthe quilt you put together from his grandmas quilting squares . We know your in a better place and that we'll see each other again. Get the scrabble board ready. We love you so much.
