Martin "Marty" Robey
August 11, 2022
Marty was born on November 2, 1971 to Art & Judy Robey. He graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1990. He was in the Army and served on the Iowa Wing Civil Air Patrol, as well as taking his love for photography and working for the Red Cross. He most recently worked for Cook Plumbing as a new home trim supervisor.
He had a heart for rescuing dogs and always had at least one in his adulthood years. He currently had three sweet old dogs on his and his wife’s acreage in Runnells. He had an ear for music and could pick up and play the guitar, the keyboard and the drums. His love for just about any genre of music was infectious but John Denver’s music and free spirit flowed strongly through his veins. The last concert he attended with his wife was Ted Vigil, a John Denver tribute and he loved every minute of it.
He married the love of his life, Jen on October 17, 2020. In their short time together, they enjoyed season tickets to the Iowa Wild hockey games, hiking in the State and National Parks, biking, kayaking, camping, traveling and spoiling their grandkids. They were working on plans to retire Up North in a quaint cabin on several acres in the next few years to enjoy with their kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Jen, their kids Haleigh (Kathryn), Kate (Aaron), Zach (Kayla) and Molly. Grandkids - Callan, Steel, Mabel Jo, Caysen and Gage. His mom - Judy. His siblings - Joyce (Phil), Matt, and Mark (Kristy). Parents-in-law Marlin and Shirly. Brother and sister-in-law Blaine and Lynelle. He is preceded in death by his daughter Lily, his father and grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the family.
The family requests casual attire sporting his favorite things of nature, music and hockey in true Marty fashion.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, where the family will greet visitors from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Sorry about your loss . My son, Chad Sepich had the pleasure of working with and knowing Marty and Chad says he was a great man and a very intelligent man and knew his job. Chad said that Marty taught him a lot about plumbing and was a great man to work for. He says there is not a man like Marty and he will be missed. Chad says he was the most understanding man and believed in second chances . Your family is in our hearts .

We send our deepest sympathy and prayers to you Jen and family.
Marty and David were great friends growing up. Dave would always talk about all the fun times he would have over at Marty's house especially when they would play with the Star Wars as young boys. Dave also spoke about a time when they snuck out and got together on a Sunday while church was in session and how they played over at Marty's house.
I had the pleasure of meeting Marty at the Wall Lake 20 or 25 year class reunion, Marty's infectious smile and laughter made me realize he was a great person to know and be around when I met him. He was always so much fun to be with.
Although Marty is physically gone from us, spiritually he is and will always be especially with you Jen his soulmate! When Dave and I saw the pictures of the two of you together we could tell you both were a couple who truly made each other complete. Always remember the special times you both shared together and hold those memories close to your heart. Marty is now your guardian angel watching over and protecting you forever. May God bless and help you through this very difficult time. Please remember we as your friends and former classmates will be here to help and support you! We send our thoughts, prayers and hugs to embrace you. May Marty always rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to all of you. Many fond memories from my time in Wall Lake. I remember how Marty hated to do his math homework, yet he knew how to do every problem! I could never trick him! Thinking of all of you at this difficult time.
