Melvin Matthew Martin, Jr., age 67, (Marty) passed away Monday, August 8, 2022.

Marty was born February 23, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa to Melvin Sr. and Ann (Polich) Martin. He was the youngest of four boys. Marty graduated from Tech High School in 1973. He went to work for Fawn Vending for many years before working for Solaray until he retired.

Marty enjoyed the outdoors, coaching his kids, watching his grandkids play sports, dance recitals, and school programs. He loved porch visits with family and friends. Marty was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Being with family and friends was his happy place. He was known for being goofy and making everyone around him feel comfortable and laugh.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years Lee Ann; daughters Mindy Martin (Chad), Michelle Goforth (Jonah), and Marci Gleason (Tim); and his son Jon. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kayla, Lexi, Anna, Caleb, Carlee, Tori, and Addy; his brothers John, Gary (Natalie), and Craig (Fonda); as well as many nephews and nieces.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Ann.

There will be a visitation at Centennial United Methodist Church at Ivy on Saturday August 13, 2022 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. - 9150 NE University Avenue, Altoona, Iowa 50009.
