Daniel Lage

Daniel Lee Lage, age 66, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022 at his home in Des Moines.
Daniel was born November 20, 1955, at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California to Eugene and Mary (Dingman) Lage. He was a mail carrier for 12 years for the U. S. Postal Service until his retirement in 2015, and a member of the Postal Union. Prior to that, he worked for over 25 years for Meredith/RR Donnelley as a Pressman. For both organizations, Daniel served as a First Responder.
Daniel attended Capitol Hill Christian Church, serving as a Chiro Church Camp Leader. He loved nature, hiking, and camping, and took many trips to the Boundary Waters. He also enjoyed the Renaissance Festival and dragons.
Daniel was active in the Boy Scouts, serving as a Scout Leader for his sons and grandsons. Daniel loved all children and was “Grandpa” to all kids. He loved playing Santa every year.
He is survived by his sons, Michael (Nikki) Lage and Daniel (Amanda) Lage; grandchildren, William Lage, Gage Akes, Nicholas Lage, Damien Akes, Shirah Akes, Jason Lage, Darren Jones, Zarek Lage, Mylah, Milo, and Tianna; sister, Tamara Brauer; sister-in-law, Cindy Woodhall; and a host of other family and friends.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Mary Lage; and his brother, Mark Lage.
There will be a Celebration of Life on October 8th from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Cherry Glen Picnic Area, Shelter #6 at Saylorville Lake.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Boy Scouts of America.

Dan and Mike, I was so sorry to hear of your dads passing. I have very many memories of your dad at ChiRho camp and canoe camp! Bob always said he was one of his best counselors!
