Richard "Dick" Hockett

Richard “Dick” Hockett of Des Moines, IA passed away unexpectedly at Iowa Methodist Hospital on August 5, 2022 at the age of 63.

Richard was born on December 30, 1958, to Pearl (Robinson) and Vernon Hockett and lived most of his life in the Des Moines area closely surrounded by friends and family. He was well-known for his unique sense of humor and big heart. He would often go beyond to help those around him with the little that he had, leading to the development of many close relationships over the years. He was known by many as Uncle Dick despite actual relation. His last night was spent doing what he enjoyed most, watching his favorite shows with his loving niece, and discussing life.

Richard is survived by his daughter Amy (Annie) Hockett, brother Ricky Hockett, niece Marcia Cain, nephews James Robuck and Alex Gilliam and many great nieces and nephews as well as others who love him dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother Pearl Hockett, father Vernon Hockett, sister Carolyn Sue (Hockett) Gilliam and other family and friends.

A Memorial Celebration of Life and Luncheon will be held on August 27 from 12:00 – 3:00 pm at Lions Park Shelter - 72nd Street and Aurora Avenue, Urbandale, IA, 50322
