November 06, 2009
Leuevda "Beda" Bodmer, 88, passed away Friday, November 6, 2009. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Westkirk Presbyterian Church, 2700 Colby Woods Dr. in Urbandale. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Beda was born March 30, 1921, in Des Moines to Dean and Leuveda (Riding) Laws. Throughout the many years of church planting with her husband Reuben she taught school to supplement the family income. She especially enjoyed tatting, for which she won many awards at the Iowa State Fair, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Beda was a longtime member of Grandview Park Baptist Church.
Beda is survived by her children, Larry (Rebecca) Bodmer, Rodney (Portia) Bodmer and Sandy (Jerry) Tuinstra; sisters, Norma Harger and Rosemary (Bert) Halley; grandchildren, Mindy (Toby) Banks, Nat (April) Bodmer, Karli (Jesse) Blair, Crystal (Greg) Kuld, Cass (Tiffany) Zorn, Cory (Lori) Zorn and Mike (Shannon) Graves; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Bodmer.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be forwarded on to Cal & Joyce Volker at ABWE or Don Fountain at Baptist Mid Missions.
