Leatha J Hockett, 86, passed away July 31, 2022, at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Leatha was born September 21, 1935, to Will and Zelta (Burkhead) Roberts. She graduated from Norwalk High School. In 1955, Leatha married Charles Hockett and they remained together for 53 years until he passed in 2008.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also spent many years taking care of family and friends who needed help with their care. She loved to travel with her family and was a great cook.
Leatha is survived by her children, David Hockett and Debra Hockett-Clark (Brian Clark); grandchildren, Luke (Sarah) Hockett, Sadie Bruce, Rob (Brooke) Hockett, Caleb Clark, David Clark, and Lily Clark; great-grandchildren, Lane Hockett, Cru Hockett, Sloane Hockett, Grace Hockett, Jaxson Bruce, Brently Hockett, and Bodie Hockett; siblings, Norma (Nick) Haag, Earlane Hamilton, Mary Lou (Jim) Neades, Richard Roberts and Julie Howell; step-siblings, Billy Paulsen, Norman Paulsen, Charlotte Flanders; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Zelta Roberts, and step-mother, Jane Roberts; her husband, Charles Hockett; and her son, Dennis Hockett.
The family will greet friends Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 5th at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Leatha will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery.

Im so sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful lady that was loved by everyone she met. Leatha loved her children, grand children and great grandchildren. She loved to reminisce about them as she smiled and laughed while telling the stories. Leatha will be missed by many.
