Tabbitha Lyne Norris
Of Des Moines, Iowa
Tabbitha Norris, age 43, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Methodist Hospital. She was born the daughter of George and Deborah (Miller) Harrison on October 16, 1978 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Tabbitha was a lifelong advocate for everyone around her and was always fighting for the underdogs in her life. She earned a Spirit of Louisville Award after raising funds for survivors of the Oklahoma City bombing in High School and that set her on a path of charity for the rest of her life. She fought for workers' rights during her time with ASFCME all across the United States, most proudly during the 2011 Wisconsin Protests. She moved from there to several roles in the field of childcare where she was not only passionate about supporting and nurturing the children she taught but the families she served as well. Despite all of that, the role that she beloved most was that of being a mother to her only son, Dmitri, whom she loved with her whole being. She will be sorely missed by Dmitri, her husband, Timothy, and all those whose lives she touched.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband Timothy Ryan Norris, II, son Dmitri Ryan Norris, parents George and Deborah Harrison, brothers Joe Harrison and Troy Harrison, sister Mary Harrison, mother-in-law Tammy Hefner, and her fathers-in-law Richard Hefner and Tim Norris.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in memory of Tabbitha.

So sorry for your loss. She was a strong advocate for the children and will be dearly missed. I had her son in my class during my internship year of DMACC. He was such a bright young child and adored his mother so much. I can't even imagine how he's feeling at a young age and losing one of the most important people in his world. RIP Tabitha

I worked with Miss Tab as the students called her at Brubaker. She was a kind person and truly wanted to make a difference in the lives of the students she worked with. She had a gentle and calm way about her. She will be missed.

There was no one better to have on your side than Tabitha Norris. I once heard a fellow organizer describe her as a mother hen. They were not wrong. In every situation she stuck up for people. She loved, she worried, she took action. After my sister died of Covid in 2021 I gave Tab a promotion from friend to sister. She helped me through that grief and losing her is profoundly heart breaking. Man I loved that girl! We planned to meet just before her accident interrupted those plans. She loved her family so much! Dmitri and Tim were her whole world and she had no regrets about that. My heart goes out to her beautiful family. Thank you for sharing her with us. We are here for you.

After my brother died suddenly in 2009 Tabbitha found posters from shows hed played from all around Des Moines and mailed them to my home for our family to keep. It was deeply touching. She was a remarkable person and I was proud to call her my friend. I loved watching the way she interacted with people and how they responded to her, and to this day there are things I still do as an organizer that I learned from watching her because nobody did it better. Our best to all, it was an honor and privilege to have known her.
