Sara Lynn Figgins

Sara Lynn Figgins, 43, died on Friday, July 22, 2022.

Sara was born on October 17, 1978, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Dave and Marcia (Fleischacker) Campbell. She graduated in 1997 from Saydel High School and then attended DMACC, receiving her Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) degree in 2000.

She married Will Figgins on September 27, 2003. Sara worked as a CMA at East Des Moines Family Clinic, United Point Family Medicine in Johnston and at North Polk High School as school nurse for the past four years.

Sara wrote a frugal living blog called Learning the Frugal Life beginning in 2009. She enjoyed crafting, thrifting, gardening, raising chickens, ISU football, camping and spending time outdoors. She was devoted to her family, always attending their sporting events and activities. Her family was the center of her life.

She is survived by her husband, Will Figgins, her children Jacob (Shelby) Figgins, Laura (Amber King) Figgins, Brodie Figgins, Drew Figgins and Emily Figgins, seven grandchildren, her mother, Marcia Campbell, her step mother, Anita Campbell, her grandfather, Earl Campbell, sister, Julia McGuire, brother, Mark (Maria) Campbell, step sister, Sara (Rob) Prehm, step brothers, Scott(Alissa) Gunnerson and Jeff Gunnerson, parents-in-law, Joel and Mary Bryan, sister-in-law, Jennifer Figgins, brothers-in-law, Chuck (Kim) Bryan, Dave (Sara) Bryan, Josh Bryan, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dave Campbell, and her grandparents, Ramona Campbell and Hank and Mary Fleischacker.

Services will be held at Lakeside Fellowship Church, 1121 W. Bridge Road, in Polk City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., on Sunday, July 31, 2022 with a time of sharing to begin at 7 p.m. Sara’s funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 1.
