Ian Samuel Venales Tapia, 11, passed away on July 19, 2022. Services will be held Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA.
Ian was born November 15, 2010 in Caracas, Venezuela. He came to the United States in 2015 and attended Dallas Center Grimes School. He was to enter the 6th grade this fall. Ian enjoyed playing soccer, video games, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Dayana Tapia de Venales and Luis Venales Graterol; his sister, Anastasia; and his grandparents, Mamama, Papapa, Ela, and Elo.

As one of Ian’s friends, I’m sorry I couldn’t attend his funeral, I didn’t know how to feel, he was one of closer friends in 3rd grade and he was a really funny kid, when he passed I didn’t want to accept it. I remember endless nights of Fortnite, I wish I could’ve stayed in touch with him. I am sorry for your loss I know it hit you guys the hardest, I know Ian is resting easy. My prayers and condolences
