Margaret Ellen Sales

Margaret Ellen Sales, 63, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at home from cancer with family at her side. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2009, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2009, at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Margaret was born May 10, 1946, to Gilbert and Nellie Thomas in Des Moines. She retired as a custodian from Hoover High School in 2001. Margaret enjoyed going to Prairie Meadows, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and mostly spending time with grandchildren.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Rich (Lori) Sales and John (Jenny) Sales; grandchildren, Jeremy, Dylon, Wyatt, Haley, Jacob, Lucas, and Joshua; brother, Gilbert Thomas Jr.; sisters, Mary (Neil) Blanos and Dillayna (Raymond) Audas; and a host of nieces; nephews; and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, John Gilbert Sales II; and brother, Larry Thomas.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Central Iowa.
