Kouang Viphongxai, age 39, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, surrounded by his family. Kouang was born on August 12, 1982, in Vientiane, Lao.

Kouang loved his children more than anything and he was incredibly proud of them. He never let his health condition deter him from being there for them. Kouang had a very special connection with his mother, who remained by his side up until the very end. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his parents Douang & Chann Viphongxai, sister Kongmala “La” (Misai) Khoundara, brother Katae (Shaynee Downey) Viphongxai, children Jasslynn, Kiyson, Kainon, Kcayda, Thayvda, and Kossu, granddaughter Nova, nieces & nephews Kabastian Khoundara, Silas Khoundara, Alexia Inrachavongsa, Kaeleena Viphongxai, and Bella Viphongxai, and many other loving family members & friends.

Kouanng was preceded in death by his son Kanai Bounlye Viphongxai.

Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2022, with funeral service following at 3:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.
