Dollie Dembinski

Dollie Mae Dembinski, age 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2022 at her home in Des Moines with her family by her side.

Dollie was born June 16, 1945 in La Belle, Missouri to Harrison and Rosella Smith. She was educated in the La Belle, Missouri school system. She worked for French Way Cleaners in Des Moines as a supervisor for many years until her retirement in 2017.

Dollie married Adrian Dembinski in 1996 in Des Moines, Iowa at the court house in Polk County. She enjoyed fishing, playing bingo, cooking, playing the slots at Prairie Meadows, gardening, camping, and hunting.

She is survived by her children, Gayle Simon, Gilbert (Kathy) Simon Jr., Alex (Tracy) Simon Sr., Mickey Simon, Dana Simon, Dayesha Dembinski; 23 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Bobbie (Bev) Smith, Mary Clark, Genevieve (Albert) Davis, Donald “Mose” Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Dollie was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Rosella Smith; husband, Adrian Dembinski; son, Ricky Simon; grandson, Roger Trowbridge III; and her siblings, Othol Manley, Ruby Smith, Cecil Manley, Harold Smith, Harry Smith Jr., Henry Smith, and Marilyn Hickman.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m. and will be followed by cremation.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Dollie.
