Euang Van Duong
July 09, 2022
Euang Van Duong passed away in the early morning hours of July 9, 2022.
Euang Duong, 58 years old, born to Quy and Hing Duong in Vientiane, Laos and settled in the United States in 1979.
Euang Van Duong was a beloved father, brother, son, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He was the favorite uncle to all his nephews and nieces, affectionately known as the basement uncle. Ai Euang had no rules and lived a joyous, youthful life! But of all roles he took on, the most cherished was being the best dad to Joshua. Without a doubt, he would’ve spoiled his grandchildren with everything!
Although the last years of his life were difficult due to medical reasons, we will remember him in happier times: easy going, up for anything, and a man of many talents; gardener, handyman, master of the best papaya salad, and an overall great cook, and animal lover (especially to his dog Coco).
Euang is survived by his son, Joshua; grandchildren Adeline & Avery; brothers Zien, Kay, Peng, Chone, Bien; sisters Lo, Mya, Kimberly; and many friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A private, intimate viewing will be held Wednesday, July 13th, 2022 between 1 PM - 3 PM at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St, Des Moines, IA 50309. The family will be celebrating Euang’s life at 1220 Fremont St, Des Moines, IA 50317 after the viewing. Cremation burial will take place at Glenwood Cemetery at the Taidam Village, on July 14, 2022, at 10 am.
Duong was robbed of the opportunity to see his grandchildren grow, but family and friends will keep his memory alive of all the good times made. We take comfort knowing he is with his parents, welcomed with open arms, bringing peace and happiness that he is in a better place.
