Beverly Jean Walsh

Beverly Jean Walsh passed away peacefully on July 9, 2022, at the age of 90. She was born in Elmore, Minnesota, on August 16, 1931, to Gordon and Grace Richardson.

Following graduation from Elmore High School in 1949, she attended Teacher’s College and taught school in Blue Earth, Minnesota. On June 3, 1953, she was united in marriage to Jack Walsh, and together they had five children: Jackie, Joetta, Jeffrey, Jerry, and John. Being a mother was her greatest joy in life.

Caring for others was something that came naturally to her and was evident when she began her own in-home child care business.

Beverly was a member of the Good Sam’s Club for nearly 15 years and served as the state secretary. She enjoyed camping, gardening, and coloring in her later years.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jackie (Al Harmeyer) Kay, Joetta (Jerry) Akers, Jeff (Marilyn) Walsh, Jerry (Beverly) Walsh, and John (Donna) Walsh; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as other loving family and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 2 sisters, Evelyn Grimes and Phyllis Green.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, where the family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery following the service. Casual attire is encouraged.
