Carol Sue Newsom

Carol Sue Newsom, 77, passed away from complications of a brain aneurysm on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. She was born August 14, 1944 to Walter and Bernice (Campbell) Hauschildt in Des Moines.
Carol graduated from Roosevelt High School and retired from Wells Fargo in the IT Department. She was a faithful and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Carol enjoyed traveling and spending time with her Kappa Chi chapter, Phi Tau Omega sorority sisters, helping others in need in the community, and spending time with family.
Carol is survived by her nephews, James (Kianna) Hauschildt, David (Hope Moore) Hauschildt, and Matthew Hauschildt; great-nieces and nephews, along with many dearly beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Dean Hauschildt.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3223 University Ave, Des Moines. Family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

Sorry to hear this. I remember Carol as always smiling, friendly phone receptionist at the DMRO/ home office. A joy to be around.

I worked for Hawkeye security insurance for 32 1/2 years, and for many of those years Carol was the receptionist. Always a cheary greeting when anyone would enter the building. So sorry to hear of her passing.
