Service Details

A warm and caring soul, Jane Normane (Woodstock) Brown, was called to Heaven on Sunday, July 10, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Jane was born July 3, 1929 to Lewis and Lillian Woodstock of Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Brown, and they were blessed with four sons. Over the years they lived in a number of cities, ultimately settling in Mitchellville, Iowa in 1975.

Jane loved many activities and was a certified Red Cross lifeguard as well as a synchronized swimmer on the Clear Lake Aquabelles team. She also loved the many fishing trips with her husband & family. Jane also adored the cats and dogs that joined her family over the years. Other passions of hers included socializing, scrapbooking, reading, journaling, baking, and many traveling adventures with family and friends.

Jane touched many lives with friendships she made through her Church and throughout her life. For 50 years, Jane was a Stanley Home Products representative, building a business that fit into her life. She also was a charter member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Altoona, Iowa, and a devoted member of the Christian Women’s Club. Jane was passionate about her Bible Study and Women’s ministries activities. Her loving and caring heart led her to support numerous charities. She will be lovingly remembered, treasured and missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

Jane has joined her loving husband, Robert, her sons James and Thomas, her sister Rose, her parents, and grandparents in heaven.

Jane is survived by her two sons: David Brown and Paul (Laura) Brown, and by her son James’ widow Debra (David) Oltrogge. Memories of Jane will also live on with her six grandchildren: Melissa Brown, Kindra (Jeremy) Valley, Christina Wilson, Katie Brown, Ayra Brown, and Joey Brown; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other family members and friends.

Jane’s family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Unity Point Hospice for easing the pain during Jane’s final days here on earth; as well as express heartfelt gratitude to Jane’s daughter-in-law, Debra and her husband David, for welcoming Jane into their home and providing tender loving care when Jane was no longer able to live on her own.

The family requests donations be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital in loving memory of Jane Brown, in lieu of sending flowers.

Cards and Condolences may be sent to Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St. SW; Altoona, IA 50009 or www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
