Rod W. Mundy

Rod Walter Mundy was born at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on January 8, 1962, to Bill and Patricia (Swifty) Mundy. Rod passed from this world on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, in the care of Kavanagh House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa, surrounded by his loving family. He was 60 years old.

For over 15 years Rod worked as an exterminator for AAA pest control, which was a family business started by Rod’s father.

Rod was a wise, thoughtful, and kind man, with a laugh that will be remembered fondly by everyone who ever heard it. He was man of God who took delight in helping others though struggles with their addictions and troubles. Second only to God, Rod loved his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed classic country music, the Green Bay Packers, and cats.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Kim Mundy; daughters, Tiffany (Steven) Franklin and Tara (Jacob) Mundy; sons, Tyler Mundy, Rod Mundy, and Brandon Blaine; grandchildren, Joplin Pray, Tracy Rejba, Breanna Mundy, and Thomas Walters; great-granddaughter, Violet White; sister, Jody (Herb) Wright; brothers, Rick Mundy and Rex (Tammy) Mundy; and many other extended family and friends.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Paula Mundy.

Memorial contributions in Rod’s memory may be directed to the family.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
