Santiago Reyes-Savala

Santiago Jose Reyes-Savala gained his angel wings on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Methodist Hospital.

Santiago was born to Irma Savala and Jose Reyes on January 17, 2022 in Des Moines, Iowa. Santiago loved snuggles, bath time with his cute robe after, and being told he was the cutest baby. He loved Winnie the Pooh and all his nurses and he made all the ladies fall in love with him. He was a very happy baby and was loved by everyone. Even though his life was short it was amazing. He taught so many people what love really is. He was born with Trisomy 18.
Before he was even born the doctors kept saying he wouldn’t even make it to birth but he showed them wrong. He did way more than most doctors expected. He also taught many people not to judge. That all are different in their own way and that’s okay. He helped open the doctor’s eyes even when they normally never helped babies like this. He was truly a miracle most would say.

He is survived by his Mommy and Daddy, Irma Savala and Jose Reyes; maternal grandparents, Estela and Gabriel Savala; paternal grandparents, Elsy Reyes and Roosobeth Torres-Reyes; uncles, Javier Savala and Julio Reyes; aunt, Rosa Reyes; and friends, Katie Buck, Shaylene Houston, and Mandy Lopez.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm Saturday, July 16 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Burial will immediately follow at Glendale Cemetery.
