Carolyn Kay Fetters, age 69, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 at her home in Des Moines after a courageous battle with cancer.

Carolyn was born December 8, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa to Paul and Elva (Masters) McConnell. She was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. She married Ivan E. Fetters in 1969 at Rising Sun Church, and together they raised their two children, Trina and Todd. Carolyn worked for Skeffington Formal Wear for many years prior to her retirement.

She enjoyed participating in bowling leagues and listening to Elvis and Garth Brooks music. She loved Coca Cola, fishing and camping, but most of all her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Trina (Donnie) Six; son, Todd (Carrie) Fetters; grandchildren: Kayla Fetters (Andrew), Stephanie Six (Alex), Tiffany Six (Paul), Kelsey (Shane) Kennedy, Dekotah Fetters (Brandon), Donavan Six, November Fetters (Jacob), Christopher Fetters, and Sophie Six; ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Bill (Roberta) McConnell, Hattie Wilcox, Betty Hill, Beverly (Ed) Klavins, and Paul (Star) McConnell; her fiancé, Paul Butler; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan E. Fetters in March 2011; grandson, Donnie Six, Jr.; and her siblings, Merlin (Dorothy) Robinson, Lottie (Albert) Aldini, Walter (Leila) Atkinson, and Donne McConnell.

There will be a celebration of life from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Carolyn.
