Brian Todd Chittenden
June 23, 2022
Brian Todd Chittenden, 48, peacefully passed away June 23, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family after a year and a half hard fought battle with Colon Cancer. Services will be held at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines on Thursday, June 30 at 11:00 a.m. with family greeting friends the evening prior on Wednesday, June 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be private.
This dynamic man accomplished much in his short life. Brian was born on September 30, 1973 to Bob and Sharon Chittenden in Des Moines, IA and grew up in Mitchellville, IA. He graduated from Southeast Polk High School, Iowa State University and later the Wisconsin School of Banking. He was the President/CEO of Legacy Bank where he worked since a young age. Being an entrepreneur at heart he dabbled in many other business ventures including co-owner of Cyclone Liquor/Cellar 626, Barnstormers, White Storm Media, Pathfinder Properties, and Chittenden Family Wines.
Brian was a member of Lutheran Church of Hope, Glen Oaks, Harvester, Cyclone Gridiron, The Des Moines Embassy Club, served on the Mercy Executive Board, and Former President of the Altoona Chamber of Commerce, just to name a few. Brian had a passion for giving back and volunteered much of his time to help raise money for charities such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, House of Mercy, Richard Deming Cancer Center, and set up his own foundation “Events for a Cause”. He also enjoyed golfing, travel, Iowa State athletic events, and hosting a great party. He was known by many for his humor and ability to make friends with anyone in the room. Though his drive to make a difference kept him busy, his biggest accomplishment and sense of pride was his 3 children. He was also privileged to have spent his life with his best friend Monni who he started dating when he was just 16.
He is survived by his wife, Monni; his children, Cole, Macy and Liam; his parents, Bob and Sharon Chittenden; his sister, Anne Chittenden; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Memorials may be directed to “Events for a Cause” and condolences expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
