Matthew Edmound Saunders

Matthew Edmound Saunders, fondly known as Edmund, age 84, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022.

Edmund was born in Chicago, Illinois to Theodore and Ella Saunders.

Edmund was loved and adored by his family and friends. Many often said, "They broke the mold after they made him."

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Yvonne Saunders; brother Theodore Saunders Jr.(Laverné) and previous wife Gloria; sister Deneen Sanders (Sam); sons, Edmund Saunders (Katherine) and John Saunders; daughter Colette Morrow (Rick); grandchildren, Holly, Erick, Äsh, Tia and Trae; and great-grandchildren, Ta'maiah, Tahiry, Taleah and Tru; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Theodore "Red" Saunders Sr. and his mother Ella Mae (Washington) Saunders and numerous relatives.

There will be no formal services held in Des Moines. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be gifted to a charity of your choice.
