Kay Holst, 76, passed away on June 20, 2022, at her home.

Kay was born December 13, 1945, in Geneva, Illinois to Francis and Marie (McKinnon) Howland. She graduated from East High School. Before her retirement, she worked at the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner with Dr. Thomas Bennett.

Kay was a woman of deep faith. She was gentle, kind, loving, and tried to see the best in everyone. She enjoyed shopping and finding good bargains at Goodwill. She loved getting her hair and nails done weekly. Above all, she loved to spend time with her friends and family.

Kay is survived by her husband, Les; children, Scott (Judy) Johnston, Melissa Simmons, Brian Holst, and Darrin Holst; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lisa Schmitt; and brother, Richard Howland.

A visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022, followed by a Celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God, Indianola, Iowa.
