Paul C. Elias, 70, of Des Moines, passed away in his home October 30, 2009.
The Iowa son was born September 26, 1939, to C. Robert and Lillian J. (Brennan) Elias and graduated from Marion High school in 1957.
Paul entered the Army ROTC while continuing his studies at The University of Iowa majoring in Chemical Engineering. A player in the NASA Space Race industry, he worked for Collins Radio Company, General Electric and Litton Industries.
Facing many challenges, he pursued graduate studies in Psychology and received a Masters degree from the University of Iowa setting forth on a new career path as a rehabilitation counselor for the state of Iowa Department of Education.
We honor his keen intellect, compassion for the human spirit and love of family, food and golf.
He is survived by his three children: Karen of Urbandale, Iowa, Barbara (Michael) Wagoner of Iowa City, Iowa, and John of West Des Moines, Iowa; his grandchildren: Kelsey, Cameron and Kyleigh Elias of West Des Moines, Iowa; and his sister Sharon(Pat) Murphy of Robins, Iowa.
A private interment is entrusted to Cedar Memorial Cemetery Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Thank you for including the Des M's obituary of you father or how would some of us have known. I'm so sorry for your loss, Barbara. He was so young, my gosh. I miss my dad and he's been gone since 1988; he was 72. He raised me and was such a sweet, gentle soul. Sending a big hug

Barb and family,
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. I was fortunate to meet him. I'd like you to know that he played a very large part in my life. When I first met him he referred me to the OB/GYN Dept in University Hospitals for a student position. Little did I know that the department that hired me for that student position in 1981 would still employ me today 28 years later. Please be comforted that your father helped many people during his life as I'm only one small example. I'll be thinking of you in your time of grief. Take good care of yourself.
