Jerry Smith

Jerry Smith, 84, passed away on May 28, 2022 in Ohio. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on April 24, 1938.

Jerry was a Des Moines Firefighter from 1960-1999, with which he worked closely with the union. His love for football had him as a season ticket holder for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He loved to play cards, he would play monthly with his cousin group. Jerry was a family man.

Jerry is survived by his children; Mark (Sue) Smith, Mike Smith and Sherri Robinson; grandchildren; Gwen, Lizzie, Steven, Amanda, Megan, Vanessa and Ryan and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Becky Smith, parents Ray and Bearnice Smith and 7 siblings.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 10:00 am. Family will great friends one hour prior to services at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa.

I have so many fun memories of Uncle Jerry, especially from the Smith Family Reunions. Our thoughts and prayers are with our cousins, his children and grandchildren.
