Mary Osborn

Mary F. Osborn, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Mary was born November 13, 1940 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Soilo and Frances Urias. She graduated from Newton High School. She worked for Look Magazine in production and for Lutheran Hospital in food service for many years prior to her retirement. Mary enjoyed gardening and going to the drive in movies. She participated in bowling leagues in her younger years and enjoyed watching movies and television, especially westerns. She loved her family and spending time with her grandkids. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Krier, Susan Tilton, William Osborn, and Lisa (Chris) Gustafson; her life partner of almost 40 years, Jerry McCreary; her step-children, Kathleen and Michael; 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; her siblings, Meicaela, Sonny, Harry, Patricia and Alicia; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Soilo and Frances Urias; husband, William in 1981; daughter, Katherine Delabar; son-in-law, Phillip Tilton; and her siblings, Edward and Diana.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022. Burial will follow at Rising Sun Cemetery. There will be a reception at Hamilton’s after the burial.
