Rebecca Whiteley, 69, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022. She was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa on May 31, 1953 to Howard Wilson and Shirley Baker Wilson.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 3:00 to 6:00pm at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway. West Des Moines with the funeral service at 2:00pm on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Becca graduated from SE Polk High School in 1971 and received her BA degree from Iowa State University in 1975. She was involved in plays and musical productions throughout high school and college. Following graduation, she performed with her bandmates at Eddie Webster’s in West Des Moines. Becca worked in advertising specialties for the Bob Allen Company in Des Moines, and then she worked in customer service for Kohls in West Des Moines. She also spent her time working in graphic design with her husband in the sporting goods industry.

She met her husband in junior high school. They separated as he moved away to Chicago and then reconnected years later. Becca and Bill became an inseparable team and were married on May 10, 1980. Becca was a sports mom for her children, Meggen who was a Special Olympian and Devin who was an all-state basketball player.

She loved to garden and be outside. She had a passion for training German Sheperds. Becca was very proud of her Scottish heritage. She loved learning about her ancestry, and she was able to take a trip to Scotland with her family to explore their family history together.

Becca is survived by Bill, her husband of 42 years; her children, Meggen Whiteley and Devin (Sarah) Whiteley; grandchildren, Audrey and Mason; her siblings, Martha Stearns and Karen Patch; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her son, Lucas Whiteley, her parents and stepfather, Ken Horn; sisters, Linda Shipman and Marjorie Horn.
