Sylvia Muenzenberger
of West Des Moines, Iowa
Sylvia Muenzenberger, age 91, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2022 at Edgewater Retirement Community. She was the daughter of Arthur and Lily (Weber) Jens, born on March 2, 1931 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She married Robert Muenzenberger on September 20, 1952. They had two sons, John and James.
Sylvia was a devoted mother and homemaker. One of her favorite pastimes was to walk you through her gardens and share the history of her heirloom flowers. She was a wonderful cook, baker and seamstress as well as a great Mom!
She is lovingly survived by her sons John Muenzenberger (Elizabeth), and James Muenzenberger (Lisa), grandchildren, Christie (Travis) Birchem, Sarah (Chris) Fitzgerald and James Muenzenberger and four great grandchildren, Graham, Sam, Ben and Grace.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Robert Muenzenberger, her parents and sister.
The family wants to thank the wonderful staff at Edgewater Community where Sylvia was a resident for 12 year as well as the staff in the Aster Cottage for their compassionate care. We would also like to thank the staff of Wesley Hospice for providing comfort and care for Sylvia and her family.
A private service will be held later this summer.
