John (Jack), my brother, is one year older than I am. Every summer we spent time on Grandma Brumer's or Aunt Martha's farm. I remember our older cousins calling him Jackie.
Although I'm blamed for putting clean clothes down the outhouse when I was around two or three, I'm sure Jack was involved too! He was constantly bullied in grade school.
As teenagers in Milwaukee we were members of the Shirts and Flirts - a teenage square dancing club. We danced on top of the pavilian in Washington Park. We double dated a few times.
Jack was always trying to fit in with the guys, so that is why, I think, he started to smoke. He couldn't play sports in high school, but he was part of the football team - I think he was helping on the sidelines.
He had a beat up old car in high school, but I had to take the bus to school.
Jack's humor was rather rauchy, but that was Jack.

Thinking of you during this difficult time. I always enjoyed Johns jokes and sense of humor. Truly a privilege to have met him. May you find peace in knowing that he is free from pain and is resting easy. You were a true angel to him.
