George Stoker, 59, passed away May 23, 2022, after a lifelong battle with genetic kidney disease. He was born in Des Moines on February 12, 1963, and received 3 kidney transplants throughout his life. George’s positive attitude, strength and resilience were admirable.

He graduated from Saydel High School in 1981. Over the course of his career, George worked at Goodwin Tucker Group for several years, Iowa Quality Meats for 16 years, Priority Express, and was most recently employed by Mrs. Clarks Foods.

George was a dedicated father who enjoyed spending time with his family. Anyone who knew him, knew his love for the Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Cardinals, and Coca-Cola.

George accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at Bible Camp when he was a child.

George is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Stoker and her fiancé Ronal; sisters, Linda Johnson, Debbie (Dave) Kane and Kathy (Dale) Zimmerle; his companion, Brenda Lundgren; Papa’s best buddy, Langston Miles Henderson Webber; his best friend, Jeff (Pat) Bolinger; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and his 5 beloved Chihuahuas: Molly, Javier, Jhordy, Poly, and Sophia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Virginia Stoker; brother, David Stoker; sister, Shirley Larkins; and 3 of his four-legged friends, Jessie, Lilly, and Charlie.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, where the family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. In honor of George, the family encourages everyone to wear Packers attire to the visitation and service.
