Anthony J. Sciachitano

Anthony Joseph Sciachitano, age 84, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on Thursday, May 26, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Anthony was born December 12, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa to Tony and Jennie (Anselmo) Sciachitano. He was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. Anthony proudly served in the United States Army and was a dedicated mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 37 years. He married Kathryn Joyce (Foley) in 1959. He loved to golf and had coffee with his buddies every day. Anthony enjoyed going to Prairie Meadows and loved to talk to people; he never knew a stranger.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathryn; children, Sheila Sciachitano and Anthony Sciachitano; grandson, Nick (Kassi) Haag; siblings, John (Alyce) Sciachitano and Shirley Gilkeson; and many nieces and nephews.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Jennie Sciachitano; sister, Josephine Sciachitano; and brother-in-law, CV Gilkeson.
There will be a private family graveside service at Glendale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Anthony.
