Robert "Bob" Grimes

Bob Grimes, 58, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on May 23, 2022. He was born in La Jolla, California, on April 7, 1964, to Bill and Loretta Grimes.

Bob had a zest for life and was a fun-loving man. Whether traveling or flying ultralight aircrafts, he was always up for an adventure. Bob hated being the center of attention, but loved doing things to get a rise out of people. Above all else, Bob cherished his family and their time spent together. The bond he shared with his daughter, Trisha, was second to none and he always kept his promises to her.

Bob is survived by his wife, Cindy Grimes; mother, Loretta (Randy) Sampley; daughters, Trisha Grimes and April Nicole; “other” children, Laryssa Smith (Thomas Toye), Mason Smith (Brianna Ellet), and Rylea Smith (Zak Knox); grandchildren Lyla and Vincent Hart; “other” grandchildren, Baylea Hallman, Ayeden, Addy, and Zackary Knox. He is also survived by his sister, Caren (David) Apple; “brother” Tim Willoughby; his amazing in-laws, Dennis and Nancy Sheehan, as well as other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Grimes, and his grandparents.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
