Denise Harkness, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at EveryStep Kavanagh House. She was born the daughter of Berthal and Maxine (Thompson) Green, Sr., on June 21, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Denise enjoyed playing bingo, taking trips to the casino and could always be found hitting the jackpot! She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, loved travelling and enjoyed all types of music. Denise had a heart of gold, she was the life of the party, loved being silly and had a wonderful sense of humor. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving sons Jon (Jennifer) Kernes, Jr., Jeremiah (Julie) Kernes, and James (Delayna) Kernes, many grandchildren & great grand-children, twin sister Debbie Bishop, sister Jody (Lisa) Gyles-Keller, brothers Bert (Lynette) Green, Jr., Mike (Jennie) Green, and Vic (Cindy) Green, numerous nieces & nephews, and other loving relatives and many special friends.

Denise was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenny, and her brother Terry Green.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with funeral service to begin at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
