James R. Crawford

James R Crawford was born on October 1, 1935 in Freeport, IL to James T and Myrtle Crawford. Jim passed away May 21, 2022 after an extended illness.
He served in the Korean War with the Marines and in Germany with the Army.
He is survived by his wife, Ida (Tootie) Rooker, and children: Kathy Reid of Illinois, John (Sara) Rooker and grandsons Connor and Harrison, and Jessica Rooker of Des Moines. Jim is also survived by siblings John (Mary) Crawford of Illinois, Lee (Shirley) Crawford of Colorado, and Barb Smith (Jim Peters) of Wisconsin. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Joan Bardell, Betty Kraft, Phyllis Janicke and brother Phillip Crawford. He is also survived by his in-laws: Joan Christensen (Greg Schwaller), Richard and Patty McMichael, Ed and Nicky Huntoon, Norm and Melody Thomas of Iowa, Lloyd and Mary Caswell of Nebraska, and Bryan Caswell of Kansas. Jim is also survived by his family at Grace Church in Des Moines.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 26, also at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hope Ministries, P.O. Box 862, Des Moines, IA 50304-0862.

Jim was a special person, Loving, kind, always ready to help anyone, strong in his Love of the USA, and strong in his faith. He was a great husband to Tootie, father, grandfather, and a friend to all.
