Sally Reed
May 20, 2022
Sally Joann Reed, 75, passed away on May 20, 2022 at Independence Village Waukee. She was born in Des Moines on August 23, 1946 to Arthur and E. Irene (Forster) Painter.
Sally was employed by Luther Park Health Center as a Supervisor of Laundry Services. She enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel, scary and Christmas movies. Sally had a sweet tooth that could never be satisfied – which tied really well into how sweet she was. She had a sassy, spicy side that kept everyone on their toes.
She loved hugging and kissing each of her great grandchildren; Avah, Arianna, Tristan, Rosalie, Raelynn, Joseph and two additional babies on the way. Sally crocheted every graduation blanket for her grandchildren and loved to make blankets for every great grandchild born.
She loved all of her children. Sally was always proud of their accomplishments and would do anything for anyone – anytime!
Sally is survived by her children; Jackie Vroegh (Jesse) of Urbandale, Steve (Becky) Reed Sr. of Adel, Will Reed of Des Moines and Ron Reed of Mason City; grandchildren, Steve Reed Jr, Dustin Allen (Ashley), Skyler Allen (Chris), Brandi (James) Drahos, Amber (Sam) Scott, Payton Reed, Justice Reed and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ronald A. Painter.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. The family will greet friends and family on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association in loving memory of Sally.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Independence Village – Waukee and Suncrest Hospice for the love and special care given to their mother. Also, a special thank you to the D.O.N., Administrator and staff of Independence Village for ensuring her needs were met.
