Deneen Sigmann, age 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

Deneen was born August 11, 1943 in Des Moines to Thomas and Florence Cole. She graduated from Valley High School in 1961 and grew up in West Des Moines. Deneen was involved with the Girl Scouts as a volunteer for over 50 years. She was very proud to have been awarded the Nancy Entemann Award for her involvement with the Girl Scouts. She was also awarded the St. Agnes Award from the Diocese of Rockville Center for her volunteer work with the Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Charlotte Lee (Roger), Walter Sigmann (Andrea), MaryMargaret Horn (Brad), Thomas Sigmann, Jennifer Telesca (Frank), and Catherine Peterson (Brendan); sister, Margaret Johnson; fifteen grandchildren; and many other loving extended family and friends.

Deneen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; brother, Mike Cole; and grandson, Beren Lee.

There will be funeral mass Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street, Des Moines and a memorial at a date to be determined at Calverton National Cemetery in New York.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
