Verda E. Crawford, 78, died October 29, 2009, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.
She was born January 6, 1931, to Mary and Thomas Chipp in Decatur County. She graduated in 1949 in Lucas County and moved to Des Moines in 1952.
Verda spent her entire life loving and caring for others. She truly was an angel to everyone and will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil; daughter, Mary (Doug) Lutz; sons, Mark and Tim Crawford; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Verlin (Bernice) Chipp.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Vanessa McPherson and Karen Crawford; five brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will follow at the Norwood Cemetery in Norwood Iowa. Visitation will occur Monday evening from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.

I wish to extend my deepest sympathy on the loss of you wife and to the children on the loss of their mother. I am a cousin and have fond memories of playing with Verda at my grandparents farm. Grandma Bessie Jimmerson was a sister to Tommy. As the years went by I had lost touch with many of my cousins. I am 78 also and trying to get some of my pictures and geneology things organized in scrapbooks. I also have been trying to research Robert Chipp etc. Do you have Verlin Chipp's address and phone number? Doyou have family history you have researched?
