Esther Lou Kooyman, 89, passed to her Heavenly Home May 14, 2022. She was born to Ray and Mabel Wales in Bussey, IA October 21, 1932.
She was a graduate of Bussey High School, married to Robert Kooyman 50 years prior to his death in 2004. She worked at Perferred Risk Insurance for a few years.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband Robert, infant daughter Marilyn Jane, parents Raymond and Mabel, brothers Willard, Leonard, and Kenneth Wales, and a sister Ila Mae Josephs.
She is survived by siblings Letha Brinkman, Lora Newton, Verga Hodson, John Wales, and Robert Wales.
She enjoyed sharing her Christian faith with many relatives and friends who will miss her loving kindness.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 19 at the Federated Church of Bondurant, 103 2nd Street SW, Bondurant, with burial to follow at Bondurant Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Federated Church of Bondurant or to Hope Ministries in loving memory of Esther.

Aunt Esther, I have so many fond memories of you. Especially of you and Aunt Vergie picking us up at the train station. You were like sunshine after the long trip. You and Uncle Bob were the best! The world will a lonelier place without you. May you rest in heavenly peace. I love you.

You will be dearly missed. I know you are in God's hands, now. I apologize that I can't attend your service since they won't let me out of the hospital long enough to do it. I will see you some day on the other side of the golden shore.
